Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive.

Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.

My review:

The second installment of the Lunar Chronicles trilogy. You can visit my review about the first book here.

The story of this book revolves around Scarlet Benoit. Its story is basically connected in the first book which is Cinder. I was actually blown away knowing that the two books are related or their stories are intertwined because I thought it would be just another fairy tale retelling.

When I first read Cinder, she became a part of my heart and soul. But when I read Scarlet, she also became a part of my heart and soul– only bigger than Cinder. I love Scarlet’s story. I love how she is an independent woman with a kind soul.

Scarlet has a grandmother who was involved in securing Princess Selene in her escape in Luna. She was living a normal life, until one day– her grandmother went missing. She learned everything about Princess Selene and she became engrossed and decided to finish what her grandmother has started. And so, the journey of Scarlet Benoit begins.

Scarlet and Wolf, how do I even begin? I feel like words aren’t enough to describe how I feel about this pair. Forgive me for saying this but I actually like Scarlet and Wolf than Cinder and Kai. Their chemistry is just off the roof! Their lines to each other just makes me want to fall in love!

“I knew they would kill me when they found out, but…” He struggled for words, releasing a sharp breath. “I think I realized that I would rather die because I betrayed them, than live because I betrayed you.” -Wolf

And then, Cinder and Scarlet met along with Thorne and Wolf and I just love them when they’re together! The fighting scenes will leave you breathless and wanting for more! That’s how good this book is!

Ms. Meyer’s writing style in this book did not failed me. She captured everything in details and vividly!

Overall, if you’re planning to continue the series, then I think you definitely should because it has science, moon people, wolf people and romance. (!!!!)

I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

What do you expect of the next book? Do you think it would be better or meh? Share your thoughts below and let’s talk about it!

I love the Lunar Chronicles so much and am glad to see that you’re enjoying them too! I haven’t read book 4 yet, but the next installment, Cress, is by far the best one out of the first 3! So good, every action- and romance-packed 😉

Abby, I’m so glad that you liked The Lunar Chronicles series! It’s indeed one of my most favorites and the story just keeps on getting better and better with every book! Obviously, Winter is my most favorite out of all the books, and I haven’t read Stars Above yet for the sole reason that I don’t want to legit end the series. 🙁

And thanks for linking me to your blog! I hope you’re having a fantastic day! 🙂

Eeep! This series is so FANTASTIC, no? Scarlet was one of my favorites, but I think Cress topped them all. However, I can’t REALLY choose, since they’re all so different and wonderfully unique! Scarlet and Wolf are my favorite ship, for sure. I’m not quite sure how everything works out, since he is half animal, but… let’s hope for the best. Have you read the novellas in Stars Above?! They are so amazing!!!

I’m glad you liked this one, Abby! 😀

I loved it more than Cinder when I read it a few years ago, which was pretty surprising because I had REALLY liked Cinder! I think I just felt more of a connection to Scarlet’s character, and I thought Wolf had more substance to him than Kai. Kai annoys me sometimes, haha XD

I have heard that Cress is even better than Scarlet, but I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet :O I hope you really liked it!
